Programs Chair for a chapter? You need to know this!!

Who is responsible for planning and implementing NSBE Canada programs?

The Programs Chair of each chapter is responsible for planning and implementing programs. The duties and roles of the Programs Chair are as follows:

  1. Plan programs.
  2. Develop programs.
  3. Encourage membership to get involve.
  4. Communicate to the membership how they can benefit from programs.
  5. Motivate membership to get involve.
  6. Implement programs.
  7. Measure the effectiveness of programs with metrics.

Is being a Programs Chair a lot of work?

Definitely! For this reason it is strongly recommended that you delegate certain responsibilities to committee members. For example, all programs which deal with academic activities can be handled by an Academic Excellence Chair and all community activities can be handled by an A.W.F.E./T.O.R.C.H. Chair. These committee members sit within the programs zone that is headed by the Programs Chair. For this reason, the Programs Chair is a Chapter Executive Officer.

You may have the following positions under your guidance:

  • Academic Excellence Chair
  • Conference Planning Chair
  • A.W.F.E./TORCH Chair
  • “Youth Programs” Chair, formerly known as PCI Chair*

Other roles may be added depending on the needs of your chapter. You may choose to have less or more roles than indicated above depending on your chapter.

*Please see the “PCI/YLP Restructuring” document for specific information on how the PCI program has been altered for NSBE Canada.
